'Technology Blog #2: Building Your Connected Learning Community and why it applies to my major'

In chapter 6 of The Connected Educator, named "Building Your Connected Learning Community," the author brings up how important it is to create a better collaborative environment where people can share different ideas and experiences that they have. The author talks about how the power of the different networks in helping create a better professional platform gives guidance on the relationships within the different networks. While also doing this, making sure the readers understand that being proactive in being engaged with others in professional environments are used both locally and globally which will then allow them to use the tool of social media to help their learning comm
unity. By using these ideas educators all around will grow together and help each other with difficult challenges to make it easier for others in the future.

The author also highlights that being a part of this connected learning community is not mainly about gaining information but it's about actively using the different skills that were discussed to help collect knowledge and grow with the success from others' environment. Going along with this idea of being intentional in opening yourself up to creating a safe and open environment will help with everyone's voices in making sure that they are being heard and validated. Being engaged in different comments while sharing different expertises this will allow the educators to strengthen their collective learning experience even more. Lastly in this chapter the author also stresses that having a good connected community not only will it help you as your individual self but it will help the whole educational system as a whole.

Going off of this chapter trying to relate it to my career in being a physical therapist this has helped me see it in a different light. The chapter shows how using the different networks of your own peers and sharing your own insights will help a physical therapist by making sure they stay updated on any new research or different techniques used to help for the future. This also helps because building your own connected learning community helps the main focus for a physical therapist which is patient care. Using all of the advice and information in this chapter will help a physical therapist by allowing them to collaborate and learn from different people to overall gain more knowledge for their patient. Using this it will enhance the performance of the physical therapist and it will also allow the patients to have a higher outcome rate which is overall the main goal.
